Classes from Michele David - Creole Creations

Classes
African Mask Michele David, award-winning quilter, will teach you how to create wonderful quilted masks. You will explore an intuitive way of making by letting the fabric “speak” to you. African masks are dramatic portraits of spirit beings, departed ancestors. You will honor your ancestors in making the mask quilt. Materials List: Fat quarters of batik (not printed, flesh color), African fabric or other fabric with larger interesting geometric pattern, beaded trims, cotton or wool batting. One spool of neutral (gray or tan) cotton, one spool metallic, one spool of color, and one spool variegated threads. Tools – scissors, pins, SEWING MACHINE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER and with which you are FAMILIAR, open toe embroidery foot, zipper foot, piercing foot.
Expressive Self Portrait in Fabric Create a fun self-portrait in fabric! Bring fun fabrics with lots of different type of prints for features and hair and some solid colors for the face. Bring tacky glue, scissors and a fat quarter of heavy weight interface or canvas fabric to use as a base for the portrait. Who will you be at the end of the day?
Free Motion fun: Fabric embroidery Use your machine to express yourself. Learn techniques to do machine embroidery, using free motion quilting.
Lectures
Contemporary African American Quilters Explore the diversity of styles of contemporary African American quilters. Included in the lecture are several Award winning quilters. Lecture includes real quilts as well as projected images.

Fees 2006:

Lectures: $300.00 (with workshop)
$350.00 (without workshop)
3 hour class: $275.00
6 hour class: $425.00
A blank contract is available via email.

The lecture fee is $ 350 plus travel expenses, and room and board as needed.
I will need:
A Kodak projector with remote control, a spare bulb and a screen.
A room that can be darkened.
A wall or table to display sample quilts.
